Beyond Four Walls: The Arc Baltimore

As creative ecosystems work to expand practices of accessibility and belonging as part of overall DEAI efforts, what more could individual artists and institutions be doing to support makers from all walks of life.

The Arc Baltimore supports people with developmental disabilities to lead fulfilling lives with a sense of belonging, purpose and meaningful relationships. In 2019, Eassa worked with George Ciscle and the Arc Baltimore to expand their successful monthly museum visitation and making program to the Baltimore Museum of Art, led by docent Marge Anderson. After a long covid hiatus, the Arc Baltimore returned to the BMA, now a part of our Gallery Educator program, and led by Lead Educator Annie Bobbit.

Eassa also worked as a mentor artist with Jules Hinmon for the Beyond Four Walls initiative, furthering the Arc’s mission of connecting artists in Baltimore in meaningful opportunities with artists associated with the Arc Baltimore. Eassa and Hinmon worked together for 10 weeks, bringing a series of Hinmon’s work and main characters from his drawings to a life size sculptural scale.
